NEW CANEY, Texas – Progress continues on the Grand Texas Theme Park with the Dec. 14 groundbreaking of the Big Rivers Waterpark and Gator Bayou Adventure Park.

Grand Texas is an entertainment, dining and shopping development that is currently under construction in New Caney, Texas, on SH 242 off of US 59. The park’s theme comes from Texas history and culture, according to Grand Texas developer Monty Galland.

Construction of all the entertainment venues within the theme park are estimated to cost more than $2 billion upon completion while generating an economic impact of $150 million per year, according to Galland.
“The reality is that we look at this as a legacy,” said Galland. “East Montgomery County is where the ball is going to be. That’s where the growth is going to be heading.”

According to East Montgomery County Improvement District President-CEO Frank McCrady, Grand Texas is expected to become the largest taxpayer in Splendora ISD and has the potential to impact the local economy in many positive ways.
“We can impact our community by providing job opportunities for our teens,” he said. “Education will be permanent with Monty’s project.”

The project spans across 632 acres, which is expected to include the theme park along with other entertainment venues and construction projects. Two of the major construction projects, Speedsportz Racing Park and Grand Texas RV Park, opened in 2016.
